Tottenham Boss Frank Labels Vicario Critics 'Not Real Fans'

Fulham Begin Powerfully to Beat Spurs and Increase Pressure on the Manager

Spurs supporters who booed keeper Vicario were informed afterwards "they can't be real Tottenham fans" by boss Frank.

Tottenham conceded two scores in the first six minutes to fall 2-1 to their opponents, marking their 10th Premier League at home loss of 2025.

However the primary topic of discussion was Fulham's next goal when the keeper lost possession far beyond his box.

The goalkeeper came out to handle a long ball and carried the ball towards the touchline.

But, instead of kicking it out of play, the Italian turned and tried to clear, but lost his footing as the ball skimmed off Wilson and was controlled by Josh King.

The forward passed the ball off to Welsh midfield player Harry Wilson, who curled a strike into the goal from the touchline recorded at thirty-six point six yards.

Moments afterwards when the ball came to the keeper once more, some Tottenham supporters booed him.

Spurs were jeered off at half-time, with the club 2-0 down, and once more at full-time.

One of those jeering episodes truly irritated the manager.

"I heard a few of our fans reportedly booed the incident and booed following, which, in my opinion is completely unacceptable," the Dane stated about the fans' response to his goalkeeper.

"Those individuals cannot be true Spurs supporters that act that way. Fair enough booing after the game, fine, but when we are in play, we are backing one another, we are behind one another moving ahead."

Kenny Tete had handed the visitors a early advantage prior to Harry Wilson's strike – with Kudus netting for Spurs in an improved second-half showing.

Ex- Premier League keeper Joe Hart remarked that the second score was "completely preventable".

"I do appreciate the supporters' disappointment," Hart continued. "I am aware the role the keeper is playing. He's a great team player, he's a real figure in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your actions.

"The keeper was deeply implicated in what ended up to be the decisive goal."

'It's In the Game, I Can Handle It'

Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Keeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Match

Italian international the keeper is in his 3rd campaign with Spurs.

He stated after the game that he had to accept the feedback.

"That score was a error of mine, I accept accountability for that," he commented.

"My aim was to kick the ball long and I simply hit the ball in a bad manner. It was an even bigger challenge to overcome."

He stated being booed "is part of the game".

"I am mature, what can I say?" he added. "We cannot be affected by the circumstances in the crowd. Supporters have the right to do as they see fit.

"It is on us to remain increasingly calm, to concentrate on our own performance. We are lacking in composure and poise to reverse results. This match is a poor defeat and it is hard to take."

'I Was Surprised No One Went Back to the Line'

In spite of Vicario's error, it was far from an easy goal for Wilson to score.

Actually it was the second most distant top division goal of the season – following Tyler Adams' forty-three point three yard goal for Bournemouth against Sunderland, which interestingly too came on the same day.

The goalscorer stated he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an open goal to aim for.

10 seconds passed between the keeper coming out of his box and the midfielder shooting – which was 5 moments after the kick.

"I felt like the goalkeeper was out of the box for ages," Wilson said.

"I was surprised none of the back four went back to the goal line. When none of them defended the net, my interest lit up a bit.

"[Destiny] Udogie slipped too, which allowed me a little additional time. After that it was all about trying to achieve the correct contact and place it on target. I had a positive feeling, the moment it left my foot, that it was on the right line."

'When You're in a Bad Spell, Everything Appears to Work Against You'

Booing Whilst We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unacceptable - the Manager

While the keeper's mistake dominated headlines, this was an all-round bad performance for Spurs to extend their home struggles.

The match was their tenth at home defeat of 2025 in the league, a joint team record matching 1994 and 2003.

The side still have home games against the manager's former club Brentford and champions Liverpool to play prior to the end of the year.

Just a single of those victories have come since the manager took over from his predecessor in the off-season.

"When you're down 2-0 after six minutes, there is a huge challenge to overcome," said Frank.

"When you're in a poor run, all aspects seems to work against you too – the first was a redirected shot, the second is a error from the keeper.

"The outcome leaves us in a place where we have lost another match. Each fixture has a unique narrative, this game we were defeated in the first six minutes.

"We simply need to keep working. The later period was much better and with luck an aspect we can utilize to learn."

Tottenham have lost four straight home London derbies for the initial time in the top division.

And they are averaging 9.5 attempts and three point two shots on target per game in the Premier League – their lowest averages on record in a single campaign (dating back to the 2003-04 season).

Ex- Cottagers midfield player Murphy commented that the manager has to endure the criticism.

"He must take the stick," the pundit said. "He's taken a high profile job at a huge football club with enormous expectation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that comes with that.

"Their showings at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
