Red Bull Announces Significant 2026 Driver Roster: Hadjar Elevated, 18-Year-Old Arvid Lindblad Secures Formula 1 Seat.

The Red Bull team has revealed a new line-up for the 2026 F1 campaign, moving up French driver Isack Hadjar to its senior team and awarding 18-year-old Briton Arvid Lindblad his maiden F1 drive.

The young driver, who comes from a mixed Swedish-Indian background, is set to become team-mate to Kiwi driver Liam Lawson at the second team Racing Bulls.

This reshuffling results in Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda being without a drive post a half-decade in F1.

Who is Arvid Lindblad?

Lindblad has been identified as a prodigy by Red Bull from the age of 12 years old.

Discussing the team's junior academy, a key advisor previously said that Lindblad "seems extremely gifted", praising his "raw pace".

Red Bull prepared a programme since last year to prepare Lindblad for his likely F1 debut in 2026, featuring runs in Grand Prix practice at Silverstone and Mexico City.

The rookie said it was a "huge honour", commenting: "Next season represents a massive test, and I know there's plenty to absorb, but I'm prepared to work closely with the team and step up. I can't wait to get started."

He has won two races in F2 so far this season and is sixth in the standings ahead of the final round in Abu Dhabi.

The Frenchman's Chance

Hadjar's F1 career started in difficult fashion when he spun out during the warm-up lap of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. However, from that point, he has emerged as one of the most impressive newcomers this season.

His performances featured an excellent podium finish at the Dutch Grand Prix, and he sits 10th in the drivers' standings.

A senior team figure said: "Hadjar has displayed great maturity and proved to be a quick learner. Crucially, he has the raw speed that is the primary necessity in this sport. We believe he can excel alongside Max."

The promoted driver called it "a fantastic step" and said he felt "up for the challenge".

Tsunoda's Exit

To partner Lindblad at the junior team, Red Bull have opted for Lawson over Tsunoda.

Lawson began the season with the main team but was demoted after just two races. However, he has found his form at the junior outfit with some strong performances, convincing Red Bull he merits another season.

The Japanese driver, in contrast, has been ejected after a disappointing season. His highest finish is a P6, and he has accumulated a small fraction of the team's constructors' championship.

The driver market moves mean that there remains no spot on the Red Bull academy for Irish driver Alex Dunne, who will continue in F2 for 2026.
